Hi there!

My name is Meadow Caya. I started Cake Betty in Nelson BC November 2014, after working in the restaurant industry for over a decade. One of my daughters has strict dietary requirements; this, combined with a love of baking lead me to discover and invent some great recipes. I have now compiled many unique recipes free of gluten and dairy, and have sourced local, organic ingredients depending on your needs and budget.

My favourite part of creating cakes is the final, decorative stage, when I get to be my most creative. I have become adept in fondant sculpture and airbrush techniques, and always welcome the artistic challenge of creating a beautiful and edible work of art!

I love the fact I never make the same cake twice, and welcome any request to challenge and further my skills. Often a cake is the centerpiece of a special occasion, and I have enjoyed seeing my creations in the midst of some great parties over the past year! In addition to cakes ordered by the public,and wholesale products to local cafes, I have been honoured to make cakes and cupcakes for Community Futures, Kootenay Co-op Radio, Nelson’s Women Centre, the MS Society, and The Osprey Foundation. I also won “Best Desserts In Nelson 2015”, competing against over 15 local businesses, at the 2015 Taste Of Nelson Gala!
